Verré Eglimosé Mirrors

Revived and Rare:

We are thrilled to draw this mirror-painting process into presence. Available for all glass surfaces, including table tops, wall panels, or ceilings, Verré Eglimosé Mirrors

about

A whole universe of time away, and now, in perfect presence. We have scouted the world, and have found the rarest of artisans that expertly and elegantly work in the historical process of eglomisé.

Painted with details first, then the whole design, and then mirrored, this reverse technique is conflates reflection and  image in-between, sealed behind glass.

Developed in the pre-Roman era (some might even say Egyptian), it was drawn back into the present by a French decorator by the name of Jean Baptiste-Glomy in the 1700's. The technique uses gilding for the origin details, and gold and silver leaf to create the mirror.  The luminous finish is other-worldly, not to mention the dimension that these mirrors play in building space and light in a space.

As we set new dimensions in our exploration to bring the finest workmanship and design, we welcome you to this new experience of a process that is rooted in the evolution of craft and design, from the beginning.

We currently have samples on display in our gallery, and can customize these mirrors for any shape, size, and design. We are working with the team at Diagonal/Confluent Studios who are experts in eglomise, with work installed all over the world. We welcome your imagination, and invite you to connect with us about this custom offering.
