Where Stories Unfold on Every Surface
Known for his painting style for wall murals, Crowder
...studied the rich traditions of Nihonga under the esteemed master Mochizuki Shunko.
This deep connection to Japanese culture profoundly shaped his work and vision. Throughout his illustrious career, Crowder made significant contributions to the art world, creating stunning murals for iconic Hollywood films and designing wallpapers that adorned luxury hotels around the globe… His final project, a poignant series of byobu (folding screens) titled “The Endangered Birds of Japan,” beautifully reflected his appreciation for nature and commitment to conservation.

And while his wallpaper is famed (and yes, we can get them for you, too), it’s his textiles that we are enamored with. Their texture is near-relief sculpture through color and feel, handwoven, and tended to by the inch. Their opulence and curious vintage bring them into a current of presence that is a perfect fit for our growing family of artist-driven representations.
